Border – plain city, nestled between several mountain ranges. In the local press can be found and the second name of this settlement – Border na moravě. The city is popular with tourists, as close to him is the most profound failure of the Czech Republic – Hranicka abyss. However, the town itself is the Border is of great interest for travellers who decided not to limit the examination of major Czech cities and went to explore the Outback.
Scientists believe that the Border town appeared in the XII century. It was a small village consisting of a couple houses and a few craft shops. The first mention in the annals of the Border we meet in the XIII century. In those days the land on which was located the Border, disposed of Olomouc monasteries founded by coarse sand. In 1292 the Border was granted city status and all the privileges promised this title. I must say that this Moravian city has always been a tasty morsel. They owned the most famous surnames in the Czech Republic.
Surprising is the fact that in the heart of the Masarykovo square, which is the heart of the old town is not the town hall, as in many other Czech cities, and the Church consecrated by the name of John the Baptist. It was built in 1763 in the Baroque style.
In General, the main square of the city amazes with its magnificence. It is surrounded by mansions, built in different architectural styles. Since ancient times, today, there are few Gothic buildings. Most houses were built in the XVI century, so their facades are decorated in the Baroque style. There are buildings built in XIX-XX centuries. Among historic buildings, you can see the town hall, which now houses several institutions, including the library and information centre. This allows you to easily inspect the interior of the city hall.
Another important tourist attraction of the city is Hranicky lock.
