In an urban area Tennoji-ku, not far from the temple complex Shitennoji Park, also referred to Tennoji. On its territory there are the zoo, the garden of Catachan, municipal Museum of art and other attractions.

The Tennoji district is the gateway of the city, this place combines old and modern Osaka, there are ancient temples and green parks. From this area you can reach Kansai airport, also open the way to Nara and Wakayama.

The main city Tennoji Park has already celebrated its centenary – it was opened in 1909, not only for walking residents and visitors alike. Its creation also pursued educational goals, and so it appeared in the zoo, art Museum and Botanical garden.

The zoo within Tennoji Park opened January 1, 1915. It occupies half the area of the whole Park, it is home to more than a thousand animals and birds, including the only one in Japan, the kiwi bird. The zoo is a carnivorous and herbivorous animals, including hippos, which created conditions close to their natural habitat.

At Tennoji Park is also Kairakuen - Japanese strolling garden, previously a garden apartment of a wealthy Osaka merchant Sumitomo. In 1926, the mansion and surrounding gardens were donated to Osaka. In the garden of Kairakuen you can see a large pond surrounded by trails and skillfully selected plants, house for tea ceremonies, bridges and other typical decorations of the Japanese garden.

In the Tennoji Park you can walk along the spacious avenues, along which are planted rose bushes, admiring the aquatic plants growing in the pond, to visit the greenhouse. In the Park, parades and performances, in the days of their conduct the entrance to the Park is paid.
