Excursion to cognitive "Landek Park" is an opportunity to go down into a real mine, go dear archaeologists, scenic views – all without going far away from Ostrava.
The mining Museum is located at mount Landeck in the small village of Petrkovice in the vicinity of Ostrava, the capital of the Moravian-Silesian region. Now it is a protected zone, and previously, there was intensive mining of black coal. Historical gallery it was decided not to close, and to arrange them in a Museum. The oldest mine was based on the slope of Landeck in the eighteenth century. Its name – "Anselm" - known to all lovers of informative exhibits.
This tunnel may go down anyone to feel like a real miner. The traveler can pass by ordinary miner. He will see the locker room, showers, shop, room, which houses the equipment, boiler room, Playground development ore. The guides will tell that the profession of miner appeared in these places a long time ago. Coal mining on mount Landeck did the people who lived 23 thousand years ago.
After visiting the mine sightseers will enjoy an amazing route trails of the reserve in search of a place where archaeologists found a small statuette of hematite, later called Landestoy Venus. This sculpture size 46 mm to several tens of thousands of years, it is preserved in the archaeological collection in Brno. Other similar statues in Europe had not been found, so it is unique. More interesting to see with my own eyes the place of its discovery.
During the excursion tourists will talk about the job of the archaeologist, will show the main techniques that can be used to carefully retrieve ancient artifacts from the soil, and how to identify them.
