Beautiful Villa, once built for Johann Ulrich, also called Hans Ulrich, now is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Hans Ulrich was a very respected man, who in 1918 was appointed head of the Council of Moravian Ostrava. He was the seventh mayor of this settlement and the last officer in this position, otchayavshimsya for their actions before the Emperor of Austria-Hungary. After the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he resigned.

His construction company, which he founded together with his friend Alois Matchem, participated in many significant projects Ostrava. Thanks to the enthusiasm and activity of Ulrich, many historical building of Ostrava were owe their existence to this particular company.

It is not surprising that own house and Ulrich chose to build their own. He took an active part in the development of the architectural project, and then personally oversaw the building's construction.

Three-storey Villa was built in the so-called Swiss style, which combines elements of neo-Baroque, neo-Renaissance, mannerism and modernism. The Villa is surrounded by a terrace with high carved railings. The unusual facade is decorated in the style of a Swiss Chalet.

When Johann Ulrich died, his beloved Villa was sold. The new owners have equipped in her office, and then handed her the rental Ostrava lawyer Bohumír Savrda. Then here he founded a carpentry company, and then sold the state-owned mining enterprise. In 50-ies of the last century there formed a club, where he worked various clubs and dances were held. In our days the Villa Hans Ulrich is an exhibition center. In the basement of the Villa operates a music club.
