Archaeological Museum of Pella – one of the most interesting and popular museums in Macedonia, Greece. It is located on the territory of the archaeological site of the ancient city of Pella, the capital of the legendary Kingdom of Macedonia.

The Museum was built by the architect Kostas Scrupulosa. Construction began in 2006, and in 2009 the Archaeological Museum opened its doors to visitors. This is a huge modern building, with an area of 6000 square meters with a rectangular atrium, reminiscent of the Central peristyle, is typical for most residential and public buildings of ancient Pella. Inside the Museum there are special facilities for lectures and workshops, temporary exhibitions, and also houses a gift shop and rest area with a small cafe.

Unique ancient artifacts presented in the Museum illustrate the history and development of the culture of the region from prehistoric times. The Museum's collection of sculptures, figurines, ceramics and iron, as household utensils, coins, inscriptions, jewelry, various funerary artifacts, architectural fragments, mosaics, and more. Upon entering the Museum you will see a marble head of Alexander the Great (325-300 BC) and the statue of the Greek God pan, and in the information sector will be able to read documents, photographs, maps, drawings, as well as look and a short video presentation about pellet. Among the many exhibits of the Museum deserve special attention the stunning beauty of the ancient mosaic, perfectly preserved to our days.

In General, the collection of the Archaeological Museum is divided into five thematic sections. The exposition of the first section gives an extensive insight into the everyday lives of Pella. Second section highlights the social and economic life of the city and includes archaeological finds found during the excavations of the Agora. In the third presents various artifacts from ancient sanctuaries, and in the fourth - burial artifacts from graves Dating from the bronze age, the iron age, geometric, archaic, classical and Hellenistic periods. The fifth section will introduce you to the architecture of the Palace complex, and also gives an insight into the life and personality of the great leader Alexander the great.

Today the Archaeological Museum of Pella – one of the best museums of its kind in Greece.
