Concert hall Perth concert hall, located in the capital of Western Australia near the Government House and the bell tower of the Swan tower. The building was built from 1971 to 1973. It was the first concert hall built in Australia after the Second World war. Its opening was attended by 1,700 people. Since then, the Concert hall is used for musical performances as well as for hosting various events – school and University Proms, business conferences, etc.
The final draft of the Concert-hall was presented to the public in 1969 – along with the concert hall was planned to build a restaurant and Parking. The total project cost was estimated at $3, 1 million. The architects had intended to build two buildings – one for administrative offices, and the second directly concert hall. The administrative building was built immediately, and the construction of the hall had to be postponed for several years because of problems with financing. Over the years the original plan was made several changes. Additions included the landscaping of the main approach to the building from the terrace St George and the construction of an underground tunnel under it, the construction of the orchestra pit with moving walkways and seats that could be removed, and the improvement of opportunities for access to the building for people with disabilities. From the restaurant had to be abandoned – instead, the plan made a small tavern and cocktail bar.
According to the architects the foyer were to be used for holding various exhibitions of art, sculpture and others. In order to predict how good the acoustics in the building in different parts of the world, used in the construction of computer simulation.
The design of the Concert hall is an excellent example of the brutal style in architecture, with its light-tight inner space and a huge overhanging roof.
For concert hall specially bought the body from 3000 tubes, around which is a balcony for the choir of 160 people. The organ was made by individual design and cost of the administration of the Concert hall in $100 thousand.
