Kings Park is spread over an area of 4 sq km on the Western edge of Perth. The area of the Park is a grassy plain, Botanical gardens and natural bushland, the so-called bushland, mount Eliza. It is home to over 300 species of plants, and it's home to 80 species of birds. The mountain offers panoramic views of the river the Swan river and the darling ridge.
In 1872 kings Park became the first Park in Australia, designed for public use. This is the largest Park located within the city, and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Western Australia. Every year it is visited by 5 million people! Kings Park even more of Central Park in new York.
Among the attractions of the Park – War memorial, dedicated to all the men and women of Western Australia, who died during the First and Second World wars. It includes the Monument to the unknown soldier, court of Reflection, the Eternal flame and Pond reflections.
Every year in September in kings Park is Australia's largest flower show. During the festival in the Park features musical performances, workshops, guided tours and family holidays. A large-scale event will attract up to half a million people!
At the foot of mount Eliza flowing freshwater source Kennedy spring, all year round providing water to the local flora. The source was discovered by the first Europeans appeared in these places in 1697. The availability of fresh water has caused the Foundation of Perth here. Already in the late 19th century began a public campaign in defense of the territory of the future Park, which was very successful. August 10, 1895 the Park was opened. Originally, the Park was named Park Perth, and in 1901 it was renamed kings Park in honor of the English king Edward VII who climbed the throne.

Twice a day the Park volunteers conduct tours of its grounds, acquainting visitors with monuments and memorials, exhibits of plants in the Botanical gardens and aboriginal heritage of these places.
