Located in the heart of Phitsanulok city on the West Bank of the Nan river is a Buddhist temple Ratchaburana, not far from it there is another temple Nang Seasons.

Date of construction of Wat Ratchaburana dates back to the founding of the city of Phitsanulok. In 1463 king of Ayuttaya Bromma Trilokinath (1448-1488 he moved the capital of his Kingdom, and ordered the construction of several new churches.

The king ordered to build a Chedi (stupa) and the Central viharn (main room). By the way, the current Chedi in the temple Ratchaburana is original from the day of construction, but the rest of the buildings on the temple site has undergone reconstruction and rebuilding. At the time, king Mongkut or Rama IV spent actively working on the restoration of the temple from the ruins.

As in many other Buddhist temples of Thailand, the ancient Chedi is the Central point of all Wat Ratchaburana. The legend says that inside it contains relics of the Buddha Gautama, however, this statement was not confirmed.

On the temple grounds is the exhibition hall where ancient coins, banknotes, traditional musical instruments, glassware and much more. The walls are adorned with beautiful frescoes on the motives of the great Buddhist epic, the Ramayana.

On the territory of Wat Ratchaburana is also viharn unusual for this area the architecture of the roof (the eaves are decorated with three-headed snake-Naga), and the old bell tower, garden, gazebos for meditation and a meeting room for formal occasions.
