In the centre of the Czech town of Place far in 1144 was founded by the famous Plaski monastery, where he ordered the monks of the Cistercian order. Its creators who financed the construction, it is believed the Royal couple – king Vladislav II and Gertrude Babenbergs.
In those days the land around the monastery was swampy, not rich, therefore, of such possessions, few dreamed of. Only a year after the founding of the monastery it became the first monks. Only 9 people had the courage to live in such an inhospitable land. However, the Czech king decided to support the brave men and gave them and the Abbey, and 4 villages in the district. The Bishop of Prague supported the initiative of the ruler and presented it to the monks for another 5 villages. Thus, Plaski the monastery became a rich monastery, which grew and thrived, acquire new possessions, bringing a good income. The Cistercians strongly supported the village belonged to them, and also invested in the construction of barns and outbuildings on the territory of the monastery. In 1154 there was built the Romanesque Church of the assumption of the virgin.
In 1785 Emperor Joseph II dissolved all the monasteries and closed the temples, which are not conducting educational activity. Under this category came and Peskoe Abbey. The monks were expelled from the country, and in the cloister was occupied by the soldiers. Now saints under arches sounded the orders of commanders.
Now the monastery is under the protection of the Czech authorities and is a Museum, which will be interesting for the curious.
