The monument of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk was opened and consecrated on 28 September 2000. Euphrosyne of Polotsk – the heavenly patroness of Belarus and the city of Polotsk, where she was born and raised, where he founded a monastery.
Euphrosyne was born in the princely Slavic pagan family where the parents gave her the name Predslava. She began an ascetic life at the age of 12, having gone to the convent, where the abbess was her aunt, taking the Orthodox name Euphrosyne. She became the first Belarusian canonized Orthodox Saint, the first enlightener of Belarus. She was also a skilled diplomat and peacemaker, reconciling proud warlike princes who waged a bloody civil war. The bronze statue of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk was created by sculptor Igor Golubev. The statue is 3, 2 meters. St Euphrosyne dressed in a simple monk's robe.
