Prague's Mala Strana district known for many magnificent palaces, surrounded by lush gardens. One of these architectural monuments are a must-see is the Palace Utrbi, or Werbowski. It is located at the intersection of Trieste and Karmelitska.
The first owner of this Palace was count of Sezim from Utrbi. In 1622 he began to buy up property, standing on the site of its future home. Only after 9 years he managed to buy the last building. The count ordered to combine the purchased home in one structure, to make repairs and smash around the house an elegant garden. Park the house is almost not changed since 1720, when the grandson of count Selim decided to conduct a large-scale reconstruction has inherited his possessions. The gardens at the Palace Vstby can be visited from April to October inclusive. The Park worked with the famous architect F. Kanka. Now we can see many sculptures that adorn the alleys of the garden, admire the complex landscape, seen from the upper terraces a superb panorama of the lesser town and Prague Castle.
The Palace was rebuilt many times. At first it was given a Baroque appearance, then decorated in a classic style, added two wings and a Grand staircase. The family of the counts of Selim lost their property. The Palace passed from hand to hand, basically, it was owned by the merchants, although during the Second world war, he liked the German invaders, who've administration. After the end of hostilities, the Palace became the property of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
