The Church of Saints Boris and Gleb is located in the city Vyshhorodok, namely on a high mountain in the area of the ancient settlement. The first mention of the Vyshhorodok just refer to 1427, when first mentioned in the chronicle sources, the Church of Boris and Gleb. In the year 1474 between the city of Pskov and Livonia, the agreement was made for a period of 20 years. In this case the order has waived any claim to an undivided territory, i.e. in the zone, which was located behind the red borders of the city. This event was the reason for strengthening the barrier in the future of the region. The vyshhorodok was built in 1476, which was the name used to describe suburbs.

To found a new city were sent two mayor: Moses Fedorovich and Aleksei Vasilievich associated with the boyars. According to the historical description of the city of Pskov, which was the hand of Elias, the last one that sent the townspeople were able to build a city on 20 June in tribute to the memory of St. Elijah the prophet.

At the time of origin of Vyshhorodok in 1476 includes the erection of a new Church consecrated in the name of Saints Boris and Gleb.
