Vvedensky convent is situated in the Pskov region, near the city Island, mount Vladimir government. There are two versions of the origin of the name of the mountain. One of them is based on the chronicle of Bishop Joachim, an earlier chronicler, than Nestor. The chronicle reports that the mountain of the Vladimir government is named in honor of one of the sons of the Slavic Prince Vandal that each of them had built his castle. So, Izborsk was named in honor of his son the Choice, and the Vladimir government, respectively, in honor of Vladimir. Other version reflects the view that the mountain is named in honor of Prince Vladimir. It is assumed that before becoming Prince of Kyiv and baptized Rus in the 10th century, he spent his childhood and adolescence in these places. If you stick to this version, this fortification existed in the 10th-11th century.

On the mountain the Vladimir government was a fortress built for defense from attacks by neighbors-the people of Novgorod. It was a fortification, the South-Eastern Outpost of the Pskov land. In the late 16th century strengthening acquired the look of an ordinary churchyard, burned out in 1875 (the temple of the fire is not affected). Remains of fortifications and an artificial embankment has survived to the present day. In the South of the fortress was a well, which is now covered with earth. In the West, was a step descent. On the Eastern mound was a hiding place. It is believed that plates from his vaults and stairs was built the bell tower at the Church of St. Nicholas. On this same mountain, according to the chronicle in 1462, was built the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra. According to legend, during the next enemy attack, unable to overcome the offensive, the believers gathered in the temple and disappeared under the earth.

According to documents in the 16th century, there was founded the monastery of the Nativity. In the 18th century after the decree of Catherine the great, the monastery was closed. But the Church of St. Nicholas remained. Stone Church, which still stands today, was built in 1797. In it added two side chapels: the Nativity of the virgin and St. Demetrius of Rostov. According to legend, after a moleben was served before the construction of the temple, this place was a wonderful vision of the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. That's why this place was chosen for the construction of the temple.

Despite numerous attacks of enemies, fires and wars, the most damage to the Church was done in the 20th century. After the revolution in 1931 from the bell tower were removed all the bells (there were seven), destroyed many icons, suffered clergy. They were arrested in 1937, and their fate is still unknown. In the temple was, and stables, and firing positions. During their retreat the German invaders were taken out of the temple priceless iconostasis.

In 1988, FR Niphon from the Pskov-caves monastery with the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr arrived in the Vladimir government for the revival of the monastery. By the time he was completely devastated and ruined. Help came from everywhere – from the Pskov-caves monastery, municipality, some businesses and even the military. In 20 years much has changed. Built cells, a refectory, outbuildings, gates, gate chapel and priest's house. Construction continues today. Is revived and the economy. At the monastery to cows, sheep, horses, have their own vegetable garden. Products derived from this farm, sell. Despite the fact that the monastery is far away from civilization, it attracts many pilgrims. Summer has an Orthodox children's camp. In the monastery there are also several springs of St. Nicholas and John the Baptist.

In 2005, with the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch Alexy II was officially consecrated Vvedensky convent. Now the ensemble of the monastery includes the Church of St. Nikola, gate with gate chapel and priest's house.
