To 1845 in Orthodoxy moved about 120 Latvians, in connection with which the Bishop Filaret in January of 1845 I was sent a petition to allow the parish to Commission services in the Latvian language. At the end of 1875 in the Church of the intercession was a fire that destroyed the temple. In 1879 was consecrated the newly built Church of the protecting veil, and then it goes the Russian part of the parish. Latvian parish remains at the ascension Church in which worship services begin to take place in the Latvian language.
In 1896 took the decision to expand ascension Church, as the parish increases so that the current Church does not accommodate all the parishioners. The rebuilding of the temple was carried out under the project of the diocesan architect V. I. Lunskoye. In 1909 the Church was electrified.
In the years of Soviet power ascension Church was valid, there are regular services were held, though the Church tried to close. Since 1993 thanks to the efforts of warden of the parish, and parishioners who donated, the temple is undergoing renovation and restoration work. During repair, was replaced roof and a Central cross. Installed a new bell, an interesting fact is that the money necessary for its purchase, was collected in two Sundays, with just the amount and cost of the bell. In 2007 celebrated 140 years since the construction of the Church of the ascension, and in 2008 – net since its lighting.
