Museum of calligraphy in the Emirate of Sharjah is the only one in the Arab world, a Museum entirely dedicated to the art of writing. It is located in the historical centre of the city in an old restored building.
The opening of the cultural and Museum center took place in 2002, the Main purpose of this Museum is to introduce local residents and visitors of Sharjah with amazing calligraphy, as well as to establish new regional and international standards in the industry.
Visiting the Museum of calligraphy can not only get acquainted with the application of the art of Arabic letters in different areas, but also to try to learn the basics of this fine art. Everyone will take special courses or just to see how others do it.
The Museum of calligraphy is the real journey to the origins of fine art. The Museum houses works of art of many famous artists refined Oriental writing (Arabic, Turkish and Persian). In the first room of the Museum presents books of different genres, written in Arabic, and many photographs. In the second room, visitors can see an exhibition of gold ornaments. In the past the Museum hall are these beautiful masterpieces with quotations from the Holy Quran and prayers.
Samples of the refined letter presented in the Museum in a variety of decorative elements and interior decorations using a variety of materials: paper, canvas, wood and even ceramics. Decorated in a special frame, these works are a real work of art, and some of them are sometimes very similar to modern graffiti.
