The Cathedral of the Archangel Michael in the resort city of Sochi was erected in honor of the end of the Caucasian war in 1864 an order for the construction of the temple belongs to Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich. In 1937, the Cathedral was closed and transferred to the warehouse. In 1944 it was returned to believers, but without the Church property. After the war, the Church building was rebuilt several times, the result of which it lost its original appearance. In 1981, the Cathedral was declared a monument of religious architecture. In 1993-1994 in the temple underwent restoration. The author of this project was the architect of Sochi Ashkenazi F. I., who returned the Church to its original architectural appearance.

The base of the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael has a four-pointed cross. In the center is a dome with a height of 34 m. the length of the building is 25, 6 m and a width of more than 17 m. Near the Cathedral is a Sunday school and a baptistery in the name of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, built a little later.
