The Museum of the city of Sochi is one of the oldest cultural and educational institutions and the main Museum of the city of Sochi. The Museum was founded in July 1920 as the Sochi history Museum. The Museum building was built in 1936 in the neoclassical style and reflects the culture and identity of urban planning at that time.

Today in the Museum of the city of Sochi there are static exhibition reflecting the history of Sochi and the black sea coast of the Caucasus from ancient times to the present. The exposition is divided in 14 halls. It contains more than four thousand exhibits, among which are the subjects of culture, everyday life and Ethnography of the multinational population of the region, archaeological finds, documents and photos. A separate section is devoted to the history of the city as a resort and theme of "Sochi – the capital of Russian resorts".

In the hall of the Archaeological monuments of Sochi Sochi, you can see rare artifacts, ranging from stone age and the middle ages. Also represented military gear, antique Caucasian firearms and cold weapons, clothes, kitchen utensils, everything that reflects the history and life of the Circassians - the indigenous population of the local area.

In the exposition of the Natural recreational resources of the Sochi region" was created whole and a picture of the local flora and fauna. In the "Nature of the Western Caucasus" visitors can explore the variety of flora and fauna. Presented here is a high-altitude area, coniferous and mixed forests, Alpine and subalpine meadows at all heights of the Caucasus. In scenic dioramas placed various species of animals.
