Literary-memorial Museum of M. M. Zoshchenko is located in St. Petersburg, in the building on Malaya Konyushennaya street, in the apartment where the writer lived from 1954 to 1958 (the last years of his life).

In General, legally the Museum is called the St. Petersburg state literary Museum "XX century", which appeared in the fall of 2007. But it all started much earlier. The idea of creating a Museum of the Leningrad Soviet literature years originated from initiatives to preserve and transmit to future generations the memory of the unique cultural heritage of Leningrad twentieth century. Still not having its own facility, which could accommodate exhibition, the Museum is engaged in the formation of collections, search the keepers of the writers ' archives, the library collection of literature of the Soviet period.

The Museum was established on the basis of the memorial Museum of M. M. Zoshchenko, because in his life seemed to have affected the fate of the Soviet culture of the twentieth century with the persecution of free speech, under strict censorship, terror, and at the same time with the ability to live according to conscience and to preserve their human dignity.

The Museum of M. M. Zoshchenko was formed in early December 1988. Initially he served as a branch Museum of F. M. Dostoevsky, and in April 1993, the Museum became independent, when it was opened I the exposition. The Museum is located in the last apartment of the famous writer in a writer's house at the former canal. At different times simultaneously with Mikhail Mikhailovich, lived in this house N. Zabolotsky, B. Kornilov, E. Schwartz, O. Forsh, M. Slonimsky, Boris eikhenbaum, Boris Tomashevsky, and many other figures of art and literature.

In this house Zoshchenko moved in 1934. Then he changed apartments, and in the last years of his life were in a small 2-accomdates apartment. Currently one room is a memorial, this is his office. In the second room, where once was the room of his wife, Vera Vladimirovna, is a literary exposition.

The uniqueness of the Museum is that in the Cabinet of the writer, all things authentic and the environment in which he lived from 1954 (in other sources – since 1955) to 1958, reproduced with detailed precision. In the office you can see a table, on it – fragments of manuscripts, in a typewriter – unfinished sheet, glasses, carelessly thrown, cozy lamp green, the bed – side table, on it – a book about Gogol, on the Desk – photos of parents. Looking at all these things, the feeling that penetrate into the challenging world of the writer, in his slomannuyu life.

Modern literary exposition of the Museum Zoshchenko was opened in early 2004. Is II on account of the permanent exhibition of the Museum. Very interesting artistic decision, which is represented by the material feeding on the leaves-parecido. You can flip through like a book that makes the exposition of the most informative and interactive. And speech here goes not only about the life and work of the actors, but also about the fate of national culture, Leningrad literature of the twentieth century, about the tragic stories of other inhabitants of the writers ' house.

The emotional center of the exposition to the installation of water pipes, which, though on a time machine transports the visitor into the atmosphere of the 20-30-ies of XX century. Here you can see old coffee-pot, radio, grinder, crane scales, heavy cast iron, kerosene lamp.

The Museum is unique, as preserved here setting the working room Zoshchenko and his personal belongings. Also this is one of the few number of museums in St. Petersburg, which reflects the colorful history of literature 1920-1930-ies.

The Museum organizes exhibitions, conducts research work, to increase funds. One of the main activities of the Museum in recent years has been to work with children.
