While in Montenegro, don't forget to visit the dilapidated fortress Haj Nehaj, which is located on the homonymous mountain, at a height of approximately component 180 m above sea level, near the town of Sutomore and Bar.
In 1542, the first mention of this fortress. "Fear, fear not," so in the title of Haj Nehaj. From the outside it seems that the fortress stands on a cliff. Winged lion, the emblem of the Venetian Republic, carved in stone above the main gate of the fortress Haj Nehaj.
You can only get inside the Western side, where there is the entrance, the rest impregnable walls. Climb directly to the entrance is possible only by a winding and narrow path, which originates in the left part of the mountain. The fortress could accommodate for up to 900 people.
Here, on the highest point of the mountain Haj Nehaj, in the 13th century was situated the Church of St. Demetrius, built before the construction of the fortress. In ancient times it had 2 altars: Orthodox and Catholic. Nowadays the ruins of this Church.
For several centuries the castle passed into the possession of the Venetians to the Turks, won it as a result of bloody battles, so on site you can see the buildings of three different cultures: Turkish, Venetian and Montenegrin.
