National Park "botany Bay" is situated on the Northern and southern headlands of botany Bay-Bay 16 km) Southeast of the Central business district of Sydney. North Cape is called La Perouse, South Carnell.
On the Peninsula Carnell there are several places of importance in Australia's history. It was here in 1770 captain James cook's ship "endeavour" first set foot on the Australian continent. On the Peninsula are the Obelisk to Captain cook, and the memorial of Sir Joseph banks, the Monument to Solander and Monument Sutherland – they were members of the expedition cook. All the memorable places connected by a Hiking trail that begins at the information centre and the nearby Museum. There are two viewing platforms – Carnell and Houston, which offer amazing views of the Bay botany Bay. From Cape Solander you can watch the passing whales in season migrations.
On the opposite Carnell Cape – La Perouse – the Museum dedicated to the expedition of French Explorer Jean-Francois de Canter (La Perouse), who landed here in 1788. Near the Museum stands the La Perouse memorial – an obelisk, built by the French in 1825. Here is the lighthouse "endeavour", with views of cook's landing place in botany Bay. On the weekends on the Cape is the reptile super show, and the local aborigines demonstrate mastery of throwing the boomerang. The area around the Peninsula of La Perouse is one of the best in the state of New South Wales for diving – under water you can see a sea dragon, fish Patek, miniature fish-needle and Ballsbridge seahorse.
An interesting attraction of the national Park is the lighthouse at Cape Bailey, built in 1950 and is still valid. By the way, it works on solar energy.
Each year the Park hosts a triathlon competitions. Tourists are also attracted by the opportunity to fish, snorkel, go boating or sailing and Windsurfing.
