Due to its unique geographical position at the junction of the Azov and Black seas, a large number of Sunny days (more of them here than in Yalta and Sochi), fertile soil, warm dry autumn and modern wine-making technologies Taman has become one of the best wine producing regions of Russia.

On the Peninsula is home to several wineries. As a result of a number of reorganizations and transformations created in 1929 of the kolkhoz "Red fighter" was formed OJSC Agrofirma "South". The vineyards of the agricultural company located on the shores of the Strait of Kerch and Taman estuary in the vicinity of Taman. In the composition of Agrofirm "South" are the wine farm (in the Northern part of the Taman Peninsula) with a Central manor in kuchugury and village Garkusha, also on the shore of the Taman Bay. Another branch is called OAO "Kuban", the vineyards are located in the North-Eastern part of the Taman Peninsula. Central estate this farm is located in the village of Kurgan, here is the winery "Kuban".

On the territory of the winery-Chateau Taman" you can take a tour. In 2004, under the leadership of French oenologist Jerome Bar was the start of the project "Chateau Taman" on introduction of the classic wine-growing technologies on the Taman Peninsula. As a result in 2005 was released the first wine-Chateau Taman". In 2007 began production of aged wines "Chateau Taman Reserve, and in 2011 – vintage wines "Chateau Taman Reserve".

In connection with the production specialization of the winery-Chateau Taman" now is not the filling of production and is totally focused on producing wine for enterprises of the agricultural firm.
