Church of the Holy Trinity in the town of Targovishte is situated in the quarter Whitened.
The temple began to be built in the years of Ottoman slavery, what is connected with an interesting legend. When the number of houses in the settlement amounted to more than thirty several people, among whom were the father Bretoi, chorbadzhi Stoio, Santa Peio and grandfather George, took the initiative to build the Church. They appealed to the local Mukhtar (village elder from the Turks) Usana with a request to erect a small chapel, but he refused. The Bulgarians decided not to surrender and sent Stoio George to the district head to the left side of the car (at that time the village was under the administrative control of Razgrad). The delegation asked to be allowed to build at least a small prayer house. Karajan was treated with respect to asylum and allowed to install the chapel. He wrote a letter to Usana order to assist the Bulgarians in the construction of their temple. However, the villagers never asked for help to the Turks: the place for the erection of the chapel has provided from their own possessions the Santa Bretoi, for the construction of the building answered grandfather Peio. The Church was named in honor of the Holy Trinity.
The small building could not accommodate all the parishioners, so in 1912 the decision was made to raise funds for the construction of the new Church. However, the implementation of the plans has prevented the beginning of the Balkan war. In 1918 the temple was completed, and in 1922 it was consecrated.
The building is a Basilica of the cross-domed type with a semi-cylindrical apse and two towers crowned with domes. Used in the construction of stone and red brick, interesting alternation which makes the outer appearance of the temple is unique.
In the North-Eastern region of Bulgaria, the Church of the Holy Trinity is one of the most richly decorated with frescoes. The icons for the Church written by the artist Moskovchenko.
