Just 50 km from Launceston situated the national Park "Ben Lomond" – a huge plateau on top of the cliffs, which rise above the plains of North-Eastern Tasmania. Your name, the Park was named in honor of mount Ben Lomond in Scotland. In the Park area of 16, 5 thousand hectares is the second highest peak of the island – Ledges Thor (1572 m). The Park was founded in 1947 as an important habitat for birds, the home of 10 of the 13 endemic species of birds Tasmania.
