A small Greek island Arch (Arch) is located in the Eastern Aegean sea and is part of the Cyclades. It is located almost at the border of Greece and Turkey (about 30 km from the Turkish coast) and very close to the island of Patmos.
The area of this island is only 6 sq km and a population of about 50 people. Most of them live near the only harbour of the island. Basically, the population of the island is fishing and goat farming, and also engaged in the service area, few tourists. The landscape of the island is mostly rocky with little vegetation. Dominated by low shrubs, but there are also some olive trees.
The main historical attraction of the Arch are the ruins of the ancient Acropolis (of which little has survived to the present day), located on a hilltop with a magnificent view of the harbour and the sea with its numerous Islands and the Turkish coast. They say that from this hill you can watch a beautiful sunset over the waters of the Aegean sea. You can visit a very beautiful cave with gorgeous stalactites and stalagmites. However, to find the entrance will be quite difficult, as it was overgrown with bushes and olive trees. Also on the island there are a number of small churches.
On the island Arch, there are several good beaches. The most visited among them is the beach Chanakya, known as the "Blue lagoon". It is situated in a small rocky Bay and is famous for its crystal-clear waters. Popular are also sandy Bay Padilla near the harbour and beach Limari.
Today, the tourist infrastructure of the island is rather weak. Nevertheless, it is still possible to rent a room and there are several good tavernas. Special popularity this island has among boaters. Island Archway is ideal for lovers of privacy and tranquility.
