Photo: the Arch and the Palace of Galerius
The arch of Galerius was built in 303 ad by the Emperor Galerius in honor of the victory over the Persians in 297 year. The arch is decorated with bas-reliefs depicting battle scenes.
Nearby is the Palace of Galerius, but its walls are not everywhere has survived even to the level of the first floor. Best of all, he was retained in its South-Eastern part on the area of Navarino. Its Central element is the courtyard, which is surrounded by galleries, corridors and halls. In some places preserved mosaic floors. In the South-Western part of the Palace was found the octagon (octagon). Its remains indicate that it was a magnificent building. The few remnants of the Racecourse, which was located on its Eastern side, has been preserved.
