Although officially Prevlaka island is, in fact, it is a Peninsula, because between it and the opposite shore only a small strip of land that only a strong tide is covered by water. Island of Flowers called for here in abundance blooms numerous seaside vegetation. The island is known for the fact that in the old days on its territory was situated the monastery of the Holy Archangel Michael.
Is Prevlaka in Tivat Bay. Next there is the airport to which the road leads through a specially constructed bridge. The island is small in size: 300x200 m.
He was rightly called the Island of Flowers - here grew a large number of palm trees, plants and flowers, olive groves, but that all changed when during the times of socialist Yugoslavia made it private resort for the military, they subsequently very little left of its former bloom. The second attraction of this place are the remains of the old monastery, which was once the residence of the Metropolitan. The first monastery on the island, built in the 6th century, is one of Michalska Prevlaka, and since the 13th century, at a time when its heyday was going through a state of Zeta, it was the seat of an Orthodox Metropolitan. Zeta diocese was located in the monastery of St. Michael the Archangel until the mid-15th century until the island is not the tragedy occurred.
The Venetians decided to destroy Orthodox monastery. They had their man, who was delivering food to the monastery, as a result, during the celebration of the patronal feast all the inhabitants of the monastery were poisoned. And in order that the crime was not disclosed, was announced the plague, and the old monastery destroyed.
In the 19th century restoration of the monastery of the Archangel Michael did the Countess Ekaterina Vlastelinovic, under her leadership, the island was built Trinity Church, and today it is possible to venerate the relics of the 70 Prevlaka murdered monks martyrs.
After the death of the Countess the restoration of the temple was stopped, and only recently was renovated the room with the cells and a small Church. Today live in the monastery three monks.
