The Museum of gingerbread was founded Elizabeth Olsewski in 2006 in the Polish city of Torun. The Museum is housed in a historic building in the heart of the city.
Torun is famous for its gingerbread for several centuries, so the idea of creating such a Museum was quite natural. The exposition of the Museum is interactive – visitors are actively involved in making up the dough, mixing honey, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom. All meals can knead the dough under the supervision of experienced masters and create your own unique cake. The curators of the Museum tell visitors stories about the gingerbread, share the secrets of traditional old recipes. Here you can also see recreated furnace sixteenth century and learn about all the features of the oven.
The Museum of gingerbread was the winner in several honorary competitions. In 2008 he was the winner of the contest, organized by the Polish Tourist organization and received a certificate of "Tourist product of 2008". In 2012 National Geographic Traveler magazine named the Museum one of 7 new Polish miracles.
The study of the history of toruń and culinary traditions will bring joy and fun for all ages: both kids and adults.
