Old mint Photo: Old mint

Old mint Ulm is considered to be a real decoration of the city: the building was built in the mid 16th century. Initially the function of the house combined with its name - there really made money. The power of the city in the middle ages was largely based on the fact that he was built solidly. The wooden buildings of special oak perfectly preserved, including the Old mint.

In the late 16th century, namely in 1589, first floor wooden mint laid bricks. But in 1620 were built on two floors in a wonderful and such a traditional German-style Fachwerk. The neighborhood brick and dark wood, plaster – all of this is preserved to this day.

Since 1624, the purpose of the building is constantly changing: here, opposite the equally famous "falling" of the house, between two arms of a small river Blau, and was oil mill and malt mill. In each case, the building was rebuilt a little, changed its interior. One of the reminders of what happened here, is considered a water wheel, which is preserved on the South side of the building. This lasted until the mid-20th century. Mint is quite badly damaged due to impact of aviation in 1944, but the building has now been restored and serves as one of the tourist points of the program.
