The symbol of the city of Vinnitsa is a Water tower. This monument was erected from the original red brick on the Vinnytsia project of architect G. Near as urban water supply. The tower is located in the pedestrian area of the city, amidst the green of the chestnut trees and old houses, in the Park Kozitsky.
During the great Patriotic war it was used as an observation post, where he followed the course of military operations outside the city, because of the tower was a great review. In the postwar years, the Water tower was used as living quarters for the employees of the local water utility.
In 1985, the tower was transferred to Vinnytsia regional Museum, which was placed on the area of the square Kozitsky. The structure of the Museum includes the exposition of the memorial of revolutionary and military glory. In 1993, the Water tower was a Museum to the memory of soldiers of Vinnytsia region who died during the period of military hostilities (1979-1989) in Afghanistan.
Its modern image, the tower was purchased in the 80-ies of the XIX century. The tower still look authentic chiming clock, which today measure with accuracy the time and each new hour jingle to celebrate. In the Park at its foot is a few modern iron sculpture.
