The Franciscan monastery is located on the South of the island of Hvar, in the Bay of Crisis. Bay Crisis – very quiet and cozy place, it is home to magnificent gardens and above them rises the bell tower of the monastery.

The monastery was built in 1461-1471, and the bell tower was added noble family of stonemasons from Korcula in the XVI century. Currently in the halls of the monastery are exhibited collected over a long time ancient coins and books, valuable archival documents, nautical charts, etc. the Most interesting exhibit is the Atlas of Ptolemy, published in 1524.

Also in the monastery there is an art gallery, which affects the collection of works of the old masters. Here presents "the last Supper" by famous Venetian masters Palma del Vecchio. Once this painting belonged to the famous Venetian Matteo Ingole, but has passed into the collection of the monastery.

In the Church of the virgin Mary, located on the territory of the monastery, there are three triptych, authored by Francesco de Santacroce, they were created in 1583. Also exhibited at the altar of the Crucifixion, by Leonardo Bassano. Under the altar of the Church is the burial place of Hannibal lukić. The portal of the Church is decorated with Renaissance relief depicting the Madonna and child. The image created by Nikola Florentine in 1470 and is interesting in that inlaid with precious stones.

Many tourists come to see the famous Renaissance cloister of the monastery. Deserves special attention growing in the monastery courtyard cypress. Local old-timers say that it is older than 300 years.
