Reserve Bistrishko-the relief is flat is situated in the South of Sofia in Bulgaria and is included in the territory of Vitosha nature Park. Since 1934 the reserve is a protected area. The purpose of the protection of this place is conservation of coniferous forest Alpine and herbaceous vegetation on site. Since 1977 UNESCO reserve Bistrishko-the relief is flat biosphere.

The reserve is situated on Vitosha mountain, the northeastern slope in the catchment area of the rivers Janczewska and Bistrita. On the reserve there are peaks Skoparnik the height of 2226 m above sea level, and Gholam-Rosen, situated on the elevation of 2277 meters above sea level. The altitude of the reserve varies from 1430 meters to 2282 meters above sea level.

The total area of the reserve is more than a thousand hectares. More than half of the territory is covered with forests, the remaining area is occupied by Alpine and subalpine meadows. In the forest the most common trees are spruce, a little less beech, sometimes aspen, birch and Balkan (rumelian) pine. The oldest trees of the reserve are aged about one and a half hundreds of years, the diameter of their trunks – 130 cm Average tree height is 25 meters and the average age of the forest – about 110 years.

In the reserve established a special tourist trail. They lead from the Lodge Aleko to the villages of Bistritsa and Jeleznitsa. To deviate from these routes only with the permission of the Ministry of water resources and the environment.
