In a picturesque place in the Mari region, on the banks of the river Rutka in 1997 construction began on the monastery of the virgin - St. Sergius. Buildings on the monastery grounds is made in the best traditions of Russian wooden architecture. View of the domes of the wooden churches in the taiga Kilemarsky district makes a strong impression on tourists and pilgrims.

In 1998, a procession took place: from Yoshkar-Ola ascension Cathedral, accompanied by the laity and clergy was moved the icon of the Phenomenon of the blessed virgin Mary in a newly built abode. The miraculous icon, which became the main Shrine of the monastery – the way, the survivors after the destruction Tsarevokokshajsky convent.

In 1999, the monastery was consecrated and opened for numerous pilgrims who come from all over the world find healing in miraculous images of the Vladimir icon of the Mother of God of Athos icon of the Mother of God and icon of the beheading of John the Baptist.
