Museum "Silesian house" Museum, located in Katowice, dedicated to the arts and culture of Upper Silesia and the works of Polish painter Ewald Gallica (1919-1993).

The Museum building was built in the early twentieth century cousins, architects and graduates of the Royal College of technology Emil and Georg Telmanom. Originally, the building housed the stables, rooms for coachmen and carriage house.

In 1986 the coal mine "Staszic" donated the building. After the repair it, the house tried to give traditional Silesian character.

Initially, the Museum appeared only paintings Ewald Gallica. The work took three rooms, also there appeared a furniture artist: sofa, aquarium, bird cage, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Exhibition of paintings gradually began to be supplemented by traditional Silesian furniture, antique kitchenware and household items. It was assembled primarily at the expense of miners and residents of nearby villages. Soon, the artist's house was transformed into a branch of the Municipal House of culture.

Currently the Museum contains furniture, dishes, paintings, carpets, jewelry, items of clothing – all that could be seen in the Silesian houses of the late nineteenth-early twentieth centuries. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Museum organizes thematic workshops for students and adults. During these meetings you can learn more about the customs and rituals of Upper Silesia, learn to cook traditional dishes (to make sour cabbage, bake bread, cook soup and make fat).
