Historical Museum "Orthodox Myshkin", or Historical and cultural Museum family collections, is located on Nikolskaya square, 5 in the town of Myshkin.
The Museum originated in 1999. Its Creator was made by Sergey Kurov, artist and teacher. He created the Museum as a tribute to the architectural monument, the first stone temple in the city – St. Nicholas Cathedral, built in 1764. The Museum was called the Museum of Nikola and was located at the center of "woodcarving" because here Sergey mugs conducted by drawing and carving for children and adults.
The work was carried out and on the organization of exhibitions. So, in 2001 Myshkin carvers were members of the Yaroslavl region Moscow and has exhibited his work at the IV Moscow children's festival of arts and crafts "Masters" in the all-Russian Museum of decorative, applied and folk art (UNDPI) and were awarded the "Diploma". In 2002, in Myshkin was held the exhibition "wood Carving", which enjoyed great popularity among the local population and visitors to the city, which was attended by not only children but also teachers Myshkin schools. Currently the work of groups in the Museum discontinued, but organized archival Advisory activities with the population in decorative arts and local history, as well as conducted research work. However, the theme of the carving in the design of the Museum is present and has continued.
Over time, studying the history of the town of Myshkin and Myshkin County and replenishment of the archival materials and the collection of exhibits, Museum of the Orthodox turned into a family Museum collections. Orthodoxy and Orthodox education in family and school until the revolutionary events of 1917, continued to be the main focus of the work of the Museum. The Museum has main sections. The first is called "Volga-finds" (the Volga, the theme is the founding of Myshkin, Volgostroi, Uceska abode, Mologa). The second section is devoted to the works of photographer S. I. Kolpakova. There are old photographs of Myshkin, churches and chapels, family pictures.
The third section tells the story of Alexander p. Berezina – famous Myskina, shepherdess from a very poor family, the future Head of St. Petersburg, the first Guild merchant, the Builder of the Church of the ascension in St. Petersburg, St. Nicholas Cathedral in Myshkin, ascension Church in Okhotin, the first in our country folk school during the reign of Catherine II, and all at his own expense. Thanks to A. P. Berezina Myshkin was given the status of a city and it became a district capital.
The fourth section – "Myshkin priests" (A. I. Uspensky, A. Bratkovski, Poretsky, A. I., I. Bogoyavlensky, L. Troitsky and others). The fifth is called "Our countrymen are future bishops". Here is a story about the Metropolitan of Ekaterinodar and Stavropol Agevolare (Transfiguration), the Archbishop of Ryazan Silvestre (Bratkowska and others. The exposition acquaints visitors with things and documents of the time. Documents, icons, photographs, old books, childrens children's work and stuff can be seen in the sixth section of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Nicholas Cathedral".
The seventh section of the "Museum Andronicus" tells about the life of Archbishop Andronik. In the exposition there are not a few genuine things that surrounded him and he's touched. In addition, there are highlighted the theme of the Church in Myshkin in the first half of the twentieth century (archives, documents), the old believers in Russia, etc.
The Museum features family room collections and Orthodox education. Here you can see the letters, photographs, sermons in manuscript, business cards, premium lists, household items from family archives, etc.
Historical Museum "Orthodox Myshkin in 2003 was named the most unique Museum in the Yaroslavl region.
