In a picturesque place on the Bank of the river Buzuluk in the village Filonov Volgograd region is an ancient Troitsko-Prescesky the Church with two aisles, built in the eighteenth century.
The history of the temple begins in 1728, when the Cossack stanitsa Filonov build a wooden Church in the name of great Martyr Paraskeva. A few years later because of constant flooding a village to raise a mile up and started to build a stone Church. In 1795, in the new Church was consecrated two chapels: in the name of the Great Martyr Paraskeva and in the name of the Holy Trinity. Beautiful temple in a small village was extremely popular before the revolution, the number of visitors reached twelve thousand. Believers came from the neighboring hamlets and villages. In Troitsko-Paraskeva the temple was an honor to perform wedding ceremonies and funeral.
After the arrival of Soviet power the Church many times I closed and opened again. In one of the "discoveries" of the Church, on Easter Sunday in 1948, was attended by about three thousand people. Even in the period of persecution and repression, the path to the temple was not overgrown. At the urgent request of the citizens Filonov Holy Trinity Church was opened in March 1965 and more has never been closed.
In our days the Church that preserved relics in the most difficult times of Orthodoxy, still enjoys extraordinary popularity. Young people from all neighborhoods come to be married, and on Sundays and holidays going to a lot of believers. The Church has a library and Sunday school. Filonov Holy Trinity Church takes care of an orphanage located in the village.
