In the North-Western part of the Volgograd region in 2003 was established Nizhnekhoperskiy natural Park to protect the unique cultural and natural values. The Park is located in Alekseevsky, Kobylianska and Negevskom administrative districts and has a total area of 230 thousand hectares.
On the territory of Nizhnegorskogo natural Park are nineteen specially protected natural monuments of regional and Federal importance. Alekseevsky area is rich in beautiful lakes: Kaltuk, Stroyline, Larin, and Babinski tract Island. District Kumylzhenskaya attract tourists Glacial boulders, Shaqe grove, monument of don Cossacks and sandy array "Kumylzhenskaya Sands.
Particularly attractive for recreation Shaqe forest with picturesque dense plantings of trees, abundant wildlife and a Boiling spring. From the height of the grove looks like a green island among the steppes. The highest point of the natural Park is Kochav-mountain, located on the right Bank of the Khoper, the top of which offers panoramic views of the river and the don sandy ridge. At the time, the mountain served as a guard post and was the first refuge of the Cossacks. Near the mouth of the Buzuluk towering Russian mountain, resembling a natural fortress with a hundred-meter cliff from the river. The uniqueness of Nizhnegorskogo natural Park is in the neighborhood of rich vegetation with sandy array. Little desert nature Park, formed on the periphery of melting glaciers, was named "Comilla".
In the Park to this day preserved Khopyor and original don the ethnic group of Cossacks from the time of the Pechenegs and Polovtsy on the lands of the "Wild fields". Monuments serve mounds catacomb culture (dated to the second Millennium BC). Also associated with the natural Park, the life and work of Nobel laureate writer M. A. Sholokhov.
