One of the unique geological places of the Volgograd region, located on the right Bank of the Volga river, between the villages of Mountain Balila and Mountain Polaca, was named Alexander crest. The Kara area of the earth with displaced rocks of scientific value, has a relatively small total area (about sixteen hectares). Geological monument of nature was formed as a result of local tectonic activity with periodic earthquakes within 40-60 million years.
The unique name for the Volga region of the crest comes from the name of Emperor Alexander II, in whose honor and was named the nearby Alexander Cossack village, later renamed Zavodskoy. Archaeological excavations of the area were first produced in 1885 by the Russian paleontologist and geologist Alexei Petrovich Pavlov. Interesting from a scientific point of view, the crest is the only one in the Volga region, where beneath the earth's crust can be traced to the annals of tens of million years.
In addition to the archaeological interest of the yellow mountains of the Alexander ridge attract tourists with picturesque panoramas and a small lake (in crest), complementing the beautiful landscape. The depth of the "dip", which formed the lake, is about two hundred meters. Here grows the rose, elm, hawthorn, and on the slopes, you'll be nesting songbirds.
