The market centre of the Old town. This area was once surrounded by wooden buildings. However, a fire in 1777 transformed her, appeared colored stone houses with beautiful facades. Once there lived a wealthy Warsaw burghers, who spared no money to decorate their homes with decorative sculpture and painting.
In the Northern part of the square is the Historical Museum of Warsaw, and on the East side - Museum of literature named after. Mickiewicz.
