The column of the Holy Trinity – Holy Trinity column in Baroque style was erected in the city of St. pölten in honor of ridding the population of the city from the plague. St. pölten is located 60 km from Vienna. This is one of the oldest towns in Austria, which was founded by the Romans and was called Ilium Centium. The right to be called the city of St. pölten received in 1159. Currently the city is home to slightly more than 50 thousand people. The city is famous for a lot of beautiful architecture in the Baroque style of the seventeenth century.

In the middle ages, the plague raged throughout Europe. Epidemics have occurred frequently, and took a huge number of human lives. Austrian Sankt pölten was no exception, the epidemic was not overtaken him.

Holy Trinity column is located on the town square. Beautiful statue stands at 15 meters. The plague column was made by the architect Andreas Gruber in the late 18th century as a sign of the victory of the city over the terrible plague.
