Near Dmitrov in the village Meadow you can see the old Nikolo-Pechersky monastery. Its base is due to a disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh - Methodius. In 1361, wanting to serve the Lord in solitude, and having received the blessing of his teacher, on the banks of the river Yakhroma, of impenetrable forests and marshes on a small hill, Methodius cut down a hut. Gradually joined other adherents of saintly life and was built the first wooden Church of St. Nicholas. Stone construction began in the monastery in the beginning of XVI century Special development it received in the second half of the XVI century, when all the wooden buildings were replaced by stone, continued work on a wall.

The monastery forms an irregular square. It's all surrounded by a stone wall with indoor on her course, sometimes built monastic buildings. In the middle of the monastery is the five – domed Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas. For centuries, the temple was rebuilt several times, was surrounded by a porch on all sides, except the altar.

Church of the presentation of the Lord occupies the second floor of the old monastery refectory of the first half of the XVI century, as evidenced by the certificate issued by the Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich. Over the Holy gates of the monastery between 1685 and 1700 years was built gateway Church of the Transfiguration.

From 1928 to 2007 liturgical life of the monastery was interrupted. All that time in the monastery was located psychoneurological boarding school №3 for people with congenital mental disorders. August 21, 2007 at the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church it was decided to transform the parish of St. Sergius Church meadow village of Dmitrov district of the Moscow region in Nikolo-Pechersky monastery. Thus, it was decorated the renewal of parish life in one of the oldest monasteries in Russia.
