The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos Orthodox Cathedral of the diocese of Wroclaw-Szczecin, located in Wroclaw. Previously on the site of the Cathedral was the chapel at the cemetery, which was destroyed by fire in 1400. Built in the Gothic style, the Cathedral was made of brick, had a nave size 32, 7 meters long and about 25 meters wide. In 1526, passed into the hands of the Protestants, and in the period from 1741 to 1920 was the garrison Church.
During the Second world war the Cathedral was destroyed by 70%, the interior was partially destroyed and partially stolen. All murals were lost, the roof burned, ceilings collapsed. Restoration work began in 1959 and lasted two years. In June 1963, the Orthodox Church has included the Cathedral of the Nativity of the blessed virgin Mary in the diocese of Wroclaw. In 1985 he completed the reconstruction of the tower, the roof was replaced with a new one.
Despite numerous reconstruction and destruction, the Cathedral still preserves some valuable items of furniture. The most important of these is the Gothic altarpiece of the main altar with scenes from the life of St. Barbara. The temple has two of the iconostasis: modern, located in front of the altar with icons of the work of Jerzy nowosielski is the greatest Orthodox artist, icon painter. The interior of the Cathedral is decorated with frescoes, executed under the direction of Jerzy nowosielski.
