National art Museum of Sakha Republic is one of the largest art museums in North-Eastern Russia. In the creation of the Museum was attended by such well-known public and political figures as A. Sofronov, M. Amosov, artists M. Nosov and P. Romanov. The Museum has a very rich history and uniqueness of the congregation he leads in the region of the Far East and Siberia.

Art Museum of Sakha was founded in 1928, the Basis of his collection was 27 paintings from the State Tretyakov gallery, which were donated by the Republic. This collection consisted of representative samples of Russian painting of the late XIX – early XX art. Special attention deserves among the paintings small landscape Levitan "Late autumn", etudes V. Polenov Palestinian series, K. Korovin still life "Bouquet", the two portrait - "Portrait of Elena Snegireva" V. Makovsky and "Lady in black" Makovsky.

In 1946, the picture hall was transformed into the Yakut Museum of fine arts, and in 1992 he was included in the list of sites of national and cultural heritage of the Republic. In 1995 it took the transformation of the Republican Museum of fine arts. Gabyshev in the State Museum complex "the national art Museum of Sakha Republic" with the functions of the organizational-methodical, scientific-research and educational center of all museums and galleries for the arts, located on the territory of the Republic. In 1997 NCW RS received membership in the International Council of museums.

Today the Museum has more than 12 thousand exhibits, which include the collection of the Yakut, Russian and foreign art of the XVI – XXI centuries the exposition of the Museum consists of such sections as: "Domestic art of XX century", "the Art of Yakutia 1920-2000", "Graphics Yakutia", "Russian art of XVIII – XIX centuries", Yakut folk and decorative art" and "Western European art of the XVI-XIX centuries".

A special pride of the Museum is a priceless collection of carved bone XIX-XX century, representing a unique cultural phenomenon.
