Adrianov assumption monastery is located in the Yaroslavl region, namely in Andrianova settlement of poshekhonye district.

The Foundation of the monastery occurred in 1543. Judging by the biography of Saint Adrian of poshekhonye, which was written in the 70-ies of the 16th century and is considered one of the most important reliable sources about the monastery, at the end of 1539 Reverend Leonid and Adrian went into Poshekhonye local forests in order to establish a new desert in honor of our lady. For this act they were blessed by the Abbot of the monastery of the monk Lavrentii of Komel'sk.

As the location of the base was chosen as the site, located near the river Vodou or Old, in the area between Petrabalcom, White, Customsim, Chelseasir and Uhorsky villages. This location was chosen according to the order of one Chernorizets Bestuzhev, who offered to accompany the hermits in "the unknown deserts". Soon here occurred the miraculous appearance of the icon of the Dormition of the virgin.

If to take into account other sources, the icon was brought by the monks, and then installed on the oak tree, after which he was selected the land on which they built the monastery.

After three years the hermits Reverend Leonid and Adrian decided to found a monastery for the implementation of this idea, they went to Moscow, where he could receive the blessing of Metropolitan of Moscow. Thus, due permission for the erection of a temple in honor of the Dormition was obtained. After that began the process of collecting donations. Soon the monk Adrian got a new San Abbot.

When the monastery was organized quite strict Statute concerning the life and work – it was patterned genuine Charter, existing in the Komel'sk monastery. In the spring of 1543, took place the Foundation of a small Church with a refectory facilities. Starting now and ending with the end of the 17th century, when all existing monastery buildings, including the refectory room, the churches, the belfry, monks ' cells and the fence were made of wood.

Assumption Church had two aisles, consecrated in honor of St. Alexis is a man of God, and of St. Michael Malein. It is believed that the building of these chapels was in the period between 1613 and 1645 for years that coincided with the reign of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich. When the monastery was the place to be and gate Church, which was consecrated in the name of martyrs Natalia and adriana with chapels in honor of St. Michael Malein. At the end of 1659 at assumption Church were two chapels – Saint Adrian of poshekhonye and St. Nicholas. Soon the monastery there was a big fire because the building burned down completely.

In the early years of the 18th century according to the blessing of Metropolitan of Rostov Joasaph Lazarevic, and soon Metropolitan Dimitry of Rostov Tuptalo in the area of the burned churches were built new temples. In 1718, a solemn ceremony of consecration of the Uspensky Cathedral, which was built of stone. At the end of 1719 was again recreated the Cathedral chapel in honor of Saint Adrian of poshekhonye, in which his relics were placed.

One of the most revered and respected shrines became the icon of the Dormition of the blessed virgin Mary, which is located near Saint Adrian cancers, is made in St. Petersburg at the end of 1789. Nearby you can see the cross with the relics of some saints.

In 1928, the monastery was closed, and all his brethren repressed. All the rooms of the temples were busy farm. In 2000 from temple buildings are now in ruins Dormition Church, bell tower, Priory refectory and of a monastic body and stable. Currently, the monastery is active.
