One of the biggest cities in the North of Jutland is Aalborg, Denmark. This is quite an ancient city, whose age is more than a thousand years. Today, Aalborg is a major commercial hub with the port. Also the city is very popular among tourists from all over the world for its unique attractions, one of which is half-timbered Palace AAB.
The castle was built in 1539 - 1555, on the orders of king Christian III. The main purpose of the construction of the castle was to protect the country from invaders, over time, the fortress was deemed unsuitable for defensive functions, for this reason, the fortress transformed into a Royal residence.
Initially, at the residence of the vicar lived with his family and servants. The king with all his retinue only occasionally visited the castle. The Governor in Aalborg played an important government order, one of these orders was mandatory collection of taxes from the local population, and the main part was given to natural products. To date the Palace has retained many barn buildings used for storing a variety of supplies, a part of the reserves was given to the king, and some remained at the adviser.
The Palace Aalborg was built of brick blocks and wood in the basement were constructed the special chamber for prisoners to have survived various torture implements.
Today the local authorities of the city struggling to maintain the Palace in its original form. Visitors enjoy relaxing easy walk through quiet inner courtyard of the residence, the green square and manicured paths.
