Near the city and the Spa Park is the Museum Ludwig. It's not so much and not only the Museum of modern art, but rather a cultural center, which hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, ranging from photographs and paintings of a variety of meetings with authors, discussions about ways of development of modern art, showcases the various installations.

The Museum was opened in 1991, in France collection of works "New gallery" (collection of Peter Ludwig), existed in Aachen since 1970. Peter Ludwig is a legendary person: major patron and collector, owner of a huge collection of paintings by Picasso and works by famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Jenny Holzer, Erik Bulatov, and in addition, a fabulously wealthy businessman in the field of confectionery production, he was a symbol of the postwar recovery of Germany. All the resources invested in collecting and establishment of museums around the world in Cologne, Koblenz, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Budapest, Beijing, etc.

The Museum is housed in the factory building, built back in the 20-ies, which in itself is a monument of industrial architecture. The building was rebuilt with new problems of its functioning. The total exhibition area is about 6000 square meters, it is the whole architectural complex, which includes both the library and the restaurant, and school of painting, as well as artists ' studios and apartments, where they can live, as well as a hall for various activities. It is a living organism, functioning to promote contemporary art, hold discussions on ways of its development.
