The reptile centre Alice springs – private property, which contains the largest collection of reptiles in the state of Northern Territory. Here you can see the lizard Parenti, Plasencia lizard, Molokov, large and small pions and poisonous snakes, including the Taipan., false Cobra, Australian sepakbola and very dangerous king brown snake. The centre is a popular tourist attraction, which also conducted environmental education programs.
All "cold-blooded" residents – indigenous Australians. Many were caught in the houses of local people, in the courts or brought from the territories in the framework of a special program was set on fire to prevent the devastating summer fires. Founded by Rex Neindorf, former trainer of reptiles, the center was opened in January 2000. Today it contains more than 100 reptiles, representing 30 species, which often appear on television in documentaries and in the pages of informative magazines such as "National Geographic".
In 2002, the center opened an exhibition dedicated to the marine crocodiles, and in 2006 – the exhibition of fossils documenting the evolution of reptiles over the past 200 million years. Interestingly, the sponsor of this exhibition became the Australian Association of Tourism Development.
Several times throughout its history, the inhabitants of the center were attacked by humans. So, in 2004, two 13-year-old boys broke into the centre with clubs and attacked the crocodile, breaking his teeth and causing several wounds. In 2008, another 7-year-old boy entered the center after closing and staged a real massacre, which killed 13 animals! Died, in particular, 20-year-old varane Spencer, a turtle, a bearded lizard and lizard, Moloch. Some animals juvenile delinquent was thrown over the fence into a paddock to the 200-pound marine crocodile. After this incident, which received wide coverage in many countries of the world, in the state of Northern Territory had seriously reconsidered the punishment for offenders under the age of 10.
