The Museum Dolomites is located in the small town of San Candido in the popular ski resort of Alta Pusteria. This journey, one of the most exciting on earth, will allow to touch the mysteries of the past will talk about fossil remains silent – the eternal witnesses of how varied the landscapes, the flora and fauna of this region in different geological epochs. The ground on which now the majestic Dolomites, was once the bottom of a tropical sea millions of years inhabited by some Ammonites – spectacular coral formations. Then from the bottom of the oceans began erupting volcanoes that have shaped the modern landscape, and lava eruptions from forever canned and preserved the remains of plants and animals that lived on the earth in those far-distant times.

But the diversity and beauty of the dolomite rocks and minerals attracted the attention of not only scientists and active recreation. These keepers of the secrets of the earth, literally, full of secrets and mysteries, have always been closely connected with the legends and sagas, passed on from generation to generation. This legend was said about gemstones and their miraculous healing power, and Krogerus – mythical race known as the Sons of Stones, and about the Princess, the Queen of light.
