Funa is a medieval Outpost of the Principality of Theodoro. This fortress is located on the West side of the southern Demerdzhi mountain on a rocky hill. In Greek the name of the fortress is "smoky". In former times the Demerdzhi mountain was also called "Funa".

The Funa is a monument of archeology and architecture and is located two kilometers North of the village of Radiant, it is possible to drive from the city of Alushta, where, right from the station, bus service. Also, if you go in the direction of the Radiant, Kutuzov slightly below the fountain, from the asphalt road. For two kilometers to the village, the rocky Western cliffs of Demerdzhi, there are the ruins of medieval fortifications. Above the ruins, the rest of his defensive walls, you can see the semi-circular ledge is a conch. In former times there was an altar of the castle Church, which was retained until the thirties of the last century, and next door was occupied dwellings, which today is a pile of stones. About three hundred meters North of the fortifications is the burial of the inhabitants of the fortress and the village of Fung.

First Funa mentioned in 1384. At the time she was an Outpost of the Principality of Theodoro and possessed important military purpose. In the middle ages near the fortress was a trade route from Alushta (Aluston) and Gurzuf (Gorsovet) in the steppe Crimea.

At the foot of the mountain Demerdzhi settlements arose not by accident, the main cause was the presence of a busy road. Examining settlements, archaeologists have come to the conclusion that his appearance refers to the fifth or early sixth century.

After the coast of the Crimea was captured by the Genoese from Caffa and to Cembalo, opposite the Genoese fortresses were built several fortresses princes Theodoro. These fortresses resisted and fought control over the progress of the enemy on the Crimean Peninsula, and also provided a springboard to capture coastal cities. Feodoro army were forced to take such action, as it struggled with the Genoese for the right to have the coast. Funa was the Eastern border Outpost, which was opposed by staying on the territory of the Genoese fortress and taken control of one of the most important caravan routes from the Crimea on the coast. Despite the efforts of scientists, Funa still remains largely a mystery, because written sources about it is rather scarce. Only Patriarchal diplomas 1384 mention to Fung as one of the subjects of the dispute between the Metropolitan of Gothia, Sogdiyskom and Kherson. Also this settlement is mentioned in Church records Dating back to the year 1836, in the survey of Greek immigrants from the Crimea in Mariupol uyezd.

Today, the Funa is ruins, consisting of heaps of stones. Beneath them disappeared and the front yard, and a two-storey Church. Instead Funy with its houses, taverns and shops only a lone fragment of the apse of the Church, which hung over a large garden near the road to the plateau.
