Mountain lake Volume is located in the Swiss Canton of graubünden at the height of 2345 meters above sea level, near the mountains of Piz Badus, near the pass Oberalppass. It is assumed that its name comes from the Latin word "tumba", which literally means "grave" or "pit".
Who lived in this area from 1752 to 1833 cleric of Placidus Haste wrote: "This, with a width of 200 steps and a length of 400 steps, the lake is a Cup from which flows the Rhine. This wonderful country is truly worthy of being the source of this majestic river." It is here that the Rhine, which flows through 4 countries and is considered one of the largest rivers of Europe, you can literally step over, before its waters will travel the length of 1320 km.
Around the lake there are many Hiking trails. Along these trails are full of lilies and Alpine rose. On its Eastern shore are sprawling grasslands covered with cotton grass is a special kind of sedge, during the flowering of which is attributable to the month of August, the coast is wrapped in an air of fluffy shawl.
Immediately nearby are the ruins, consisting of huge stones, which are readily used by tourists for picnics.
One of the most famous routes is called Crafters-Rute, which starts on the Oberalp pass, goes around the circumference of the lake and returns to the starting point. Descents and ascents, water and rocks, mountains and marshes – tourists jokingly called this route the "all inclusive", and not that they're wrong.
