Museum and cultural center "house of the merchant Tatushina is located in the city of Astrakhan and is the only extant specimen of wooden architecture of the XIX century in the Lower Volga region. Its opening was held in August 2010.
The Museum is housed in a wooden tower, on the street Communist. The building was erected in the classic Russian style of provincial mansions and is a two-storey wooden structure with a stone Foundation and eyes. Around the perimeter of the house was built wide gallery, the facade is richly decorated with carvings. The house belonged to the family Tetuanui - successful entrepreneurs and merchants. The head of the family – Gregory Titusyou (1830-1894) was an honorary citizen of the city of Astrakhan.
Visiting the Museum and cultural center, you can better understand the lifestyle and the life of a merchant family of that time. Guests are invited to visit one of the two main tours – "a visit To the merchant family and From merchant to merchant". In addition, the Museum plays an important educational role: on the basis of several programmes designed to acquaint the younger generation with the traditions and customs of the Astrakhan region.
